Searching for ILL Requests
- A supervisor will provide several sheets of paper, each containing the information for a particular loan.
- The information of the desired book/video tape/article is approximately towards the center of the form, on the “Bibliographic Information”.
- You will use this information to search for availability. This library does not lend the following: DVD, Heritage room materials, reference, periodical issues, special collections, music recordings, or e-books.
- Use the online library catalog to search for the loan.
- The best way to search for the loan is to go into the “title” tab and search by exact title. Make sure that the search location is set to “La Sierra University Library”.
- In some cases, video tapes (VHS tapes) will not show up unless the search location is set to “LSU videos and DVDs” (the location search is a scroll down list located below the search field).
- Once the desired material is found, write down the call number on the Interlibrary Loan form and search for it in the stacks.
- The following are symbols used in special cases:
- If the material is checked out, write an “I” on the top right of the form.
- If the material is missing, write an “M” on the top right of the form.
- If the material cannot be loaned, write a “B” on the top right of the form.
- For articles, make copies of the requested pages.
- Once every thing has been collected, turn in the loans to the interlibrary loan supervisor.
- In the case that requests cannot be fulfilled for any reason, turn in the declined forms to the supervisor with the correct symbol.
